Public education in the Treasure Valley is split among about a dozen K-12 districts. West Ada School District — covering Meridian, Eagle, Star, parts of Boise, and parts of Garden City and Kuna — is the largest in Idaho, with more than 40,000 students. Boise School District serves the city of Boise proper. On the Canyon County side, the major districts are Nampa School District, Caldwell School District, Vallivue School District (southwest Nampa/east Caldwell), Middleton School District, Kuna Joint School District, and several smaller ones — Wilder, Notus, Parma, Marsing, and Melba. Each district sets its own calendar, boundaries, transportation, and lunch program; charter schools and magnet programs operate alongside.

Higher education in the Valley is unusually strong for the metro size. Boise State University is the state's largest university and a research-1 institution; College of Western Idaho (CWI) is the regional community college with campuses in Nampa and Boise; College of Idaho is a private liberal-arts college in Caldwell; Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) is a private Christian university in Nampa. Several technical and career-training programs round things out, including the Treasure Valley Workforce Development Council programs.

For weather-driven school closures and delays, the local TV stations (KTVB, Idaho News 6, CBS 2 Idaho) maintain consolidated closure lists each winter morning. Most districts also push notifications through their own apps and via Idaho Power-style outage-style SMS alerts. The links below cover districts, colleges, calendars, enrollment, and the closure-list aggregators.
