Motorsports in the Valley
Last updated: 2026-05-28
The Treasure Valley punches well above its weight in motorsports. Firebird Raceway in Eagle has hosted drag racing — bracket nights, NHRA divisional events, and the long-running Pepsi Nightfire Nationals — for more than half a century, with both the eighth- and quarter-mile strips drawing competitors from across the Pacific Northwest. Meridian Speedway, a paved quarter-mile oval that opened in 1951, runs NASCAR Weekly Series Late Models, Pro Mains, Modifieds, and a full ladder of support classes Saturday nights through the summer. The Owyhee Motorcycle Club outside Boise runs motocross, hare scrambles, and trail rides on a member-built circuit, while Iron Mike Raceway (Sand Hollow) is the regional sand-track destination.
For car culture, the Valley has weekly cars-and-coffee meet-ups around Boise and Meridian most of the year (winter weather permitting), and active clubs for nearly every marque — vintage VW, classic Mustang, Corvette, BMW CCA, Porsche PCA, Cobra/AC, and a strong Idaho region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) running autocross out of the Ford Idaho Center parking lot. The Treasure Valley Auto Show, Idaho Cup vintage racing events, and a steady calendar of cruise nights round out the year. Karting is centered on a couple of indoor venues; off-road and overland clubs share trails on BLM ground south of the valley.
The links below cover tracks, racing organizations, car and motorcycle clubs, regular meets, performance dealers and shops, and signature annual events. For schedules, ticket availability, and rain/weather updates, always check the track's own page or social media directly.
