Alerts & Safety

Last updated: 2026-05-28

In an emergency, call 911. This page is an information directory, not an emergency notification service. Do not rely on it during an active incident — always go to the official source linked below.

Public-safety information in the Treasure Valley is spread across federal, state, county, and city agencies, plus a handful of private utilities and hospital systems. This page brings the most useful sources together so you can find them quickly when minutes matter — wildfire smoke advisories, severe weather warnings, public-safety power shutoffs, road closures, hospital emergency departments, and crisis lines.

A few local notes: wildfire season generally runs late June through October, with the Boise and Payette National Forests the most common regional sources of smoke; InciWeb is the federal incident map most local journalists use. Power outages in Ada and most of Canyon County are tracked at Idaho Power's outage map; the National Weather Service Boise office issues all severe-weather warnings for the area. Ada County Sheriff's Office handles dispatch for Boise, Eagle, Garden City, Kuna, Meridian, and Star; Canyon County Sheriff covers Caldwell, Nampa, Middleton, Wilder, Notus, and Parma — but in any emergency, call 911 and the dispatcher will route you.

For mental-health crises, dial or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Veterans, dial 988 and press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911.
